Massage Therapy at Dearborn Health

Man getting shoulder massageFrom people seeking to reduce stress in their life to athletes looking to get pain relief and performance care, just about everyone can benefit from massage therapy. Massage therapy works with the body’s soft tissues and joints. Massage addresses the muscles, ligaments, tendons, lymphatic system, blood vessels, nerves, fascia and more.

While massage feels great, it also has many associated benefits: it reduces pain and swelling, increases range of motion, decreases stress, increases circulation, and improves functionality. You don’t need, however, to have a particular concern to get a massage. We have clients who come in for performance optimization as well. They want to make sure their body is feeling great, so they can perform at their best at work and play.

To get the best possible results for patients, we collaborate with other practitioners at the practice, including our chiropractors and physiotherapists.

Your first appointment is typically 60 minutes in length. That includes us going through your health history and an assessment for any particular issue that you are dealing with. As every patient is unique, we provide customizable evaluations.

Do you provide rehab type of massage?

Yes, typical post-surgical forms of rehab are for the knees, hips and shoulders. We also provide massage for repetitive strain injuries.
Do you get many referrals?

Yes, we get referrals from MDs and other practitioners, whether it be within our center or outside. Physiotherapists and chiropractors from other practices refer to us because of the more advanced techniques that our massage therapists offer. Some surgeons also will refer to us for some of our rehabilitative approaches, which can include combining various techniques.
Hospitals also refer to use sometimes because of the specific techniques we use, particularly the manual lymph drainage method.
Can I get a relaxing massage?

Yes, though that’s typically not what we’re known for.
Can you help athletes?

We see many athletes. Massage can help to relieve pain due to athletic injuries such as strained muscles.
How do you decide what massage therapist I should see?

When you call to book a session, you’ll be asked a few questions about what you’re looking for in terms of your condition or type of massage. Then, our receptionist will pair you with the massage therapist, who is best suited to address your needs.
